Mum & Dad

Mum & Dad were here in Malaysia at the beginning of 2004; this was their third trip.  Their first trip (January 2001) was only two weeks long, as I was convinced they'd really hate it!  A year later (January 2002) they were back for a month, however...the following year they missed, because of Dad's triple bypass operation, then they came back in January 2004 and stayed for two months!  (I guess they must like it, huh?!)

On 15th January 2005 they arrived for a three-month stay (notice a pattern here?!) - can't think of a better time for them to escape the frozen wilderness of Scotland though, I must say.

Mum & Dad in Oz

In February 2004 I had to go to Melbourne, to adjudicate the "Gold Quill Awards" of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), so decided to take Mum & Dad along for the ride.  It was their first time in Australia; we had a week in Melbourne, followed by a week in Sydney.  Here are a few photos from the trip:

Mum & Dad with Alice (auntie Amy's sister) on the beach at Seaforth, the town where she and her family live just south of Melbourne.

In The Rocks area (the oldest part of Sydney, where the city was founded), in front of the famed Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Down by Sydney Harbour, with the Opera House in the background.  As you can see, we lucked out with the weather and had brilliant sunshine and temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius while we were there.  Dad was especially chuffed to discover that the QE2 was in dock while we were there too!

You don't realise just how big the Opera House is until you're close up - here for example we're still another 300m or so from the front steps.
